Music

The Chancel Choir is under the direction of Lee Uhlhorn. The organist is Jason Derrick.
The members of the Chancel choir invite you to join us in our fellowship of service through music. We have a solid core of loyal and committed singers who anchor the choral program, but we need to expand and add more depth to each vocal section.
Now is a great time to join the choir because very soon we'll begin working on Christmas music. As wonderful as it is to sit in the congregation and listen to the Lessons and Carols service, it's ten times more wonderful to be in the middle of it, singing in harmony.  Chancel Choir rehearsals are at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday evening for about an hour, with a brush-up on the service music on Sunday mornings. Any choir member, or Lee, or Jason, would be happy to talk to you and answer any questions you might have about participating in the choir program. If you think you might like to give it a try, please come to the choir room next Wednesday at 7 and let us convince you. You'll be glad you did!

Celebrations Ringers ring five octaves of Malmark handbells and three octaves on Malmark choir chimes. We rehearse on Sunday evenings from 5:30 to7:00 p.m. in Room 418 of the Activities Center. Baby sitters are available if needed. We usually do a 30–minute Christmas program and try to play in church about once every six weeks, doing both solo pieces and accompanying the choir. We welcome not only experienced bell ringers, but anyone who would be interested in trying this exciting musical activity. If you enjoy music and are looking for a covenant group, handbells ringing is for you.

The Jubilate Singers consist of youth from 7th grade through college.  They meet once a week during the school year and prepare music to help lead in worship for one Sunday each month. The youth sing at both the 8:45 and 11:00 Sunday morning services.  This group came into being 8 years ago, and at that time they adopted the hymn, "Here I Am Lord" as their theme, in an effort to show that they are ready and willing to serve God through their singing.

New Bell Choir Forming
To experience the joy of bell ringing, come to Room 418 at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. A basic knowledge of rhythm and the ability to tell a "line note" from a "space note" is all that is necessary. We'll teach you the rest.  This is a "try and see" choir without commitment. Hopefully, we will have enough to eventually form another choir. Call Mary Poole at 281-8103 for more information.

O-U also has a Children's Choir.  More information to come soon.
