Young Adult

College Class (Room 204-A)  This class, taught by Christian Ross, is designed to help students understand what kind of person God has called them to be. Through examination of the Bible, outside texts, and personal experience, members of the class will seek to better understand how God may be working in each life to bring glory to His name.

 

G.A.P. (Prayer Room) The Graduates and Professionals Class is taught by Shelly Diaz. They explore key features of Christian character and discuss how to apply them on a daily basis.

 

CrossTalk (Library, Room 411) This class, made up of people under the age of 40, is led by Denny Tosh and Billy Rhodes.  Currently, they are studying several different couples series that deal with day-to-day life and issues. They socialize several times a year. They describe themselves as very relaxed and open, having close connections and good fellowship. 

 

Growing in Grace (Room 405) This class uses a variety of resources to study ways to grow in the knowledge and discipleship of God’s loving action in our lives and in the lives of others.  The class emphasizes discussion and fellowship among its members and gets together for social activities and community service projects.  It is led by Robert and Elizabeth Paine and David and Emily Shelton. 

 

 

 

 

 

Middle/Mix Adult

Aldersgate (Room 206-A) This class, composed of people aged 50 plus, is taught by Sam Cousley, Darryail Whittington, Larry Britt, and Robert Northern.  They are currently using the Wesley Adult Bible Study.  They describe their class as having informal discussion on Bible-oriented topics. 

 Sneed’s Shepherds (Room 410) This group, between the ages of 30-70, is taught by Dwight Sneed.  They are currently studying varied series of books that relate to every day life.  They enjoy open and lively discussions in a relaxed environment.  This class meets every six months for a social event.

 The Spirit Class (Conference Room 327) This class is made up of family oriented members of diverse ages and careers. They enjoy an open format discussion on material they choose. Several times a year they participate in mission projects and plan social events.

 Women’s Class (Room 418) This lively group ranges in age from 25-65 and enjoys open discussion on a range of topics. During Christmas and Lent they study topics appropriate to those seasons.  Class members  and guest speakers take turns teaching.  They socialize about once a month.  This class is open to women in all stages of life.

 Stragglers (Room 207) Jim Greenlee teaches this class of people ages 40 plus. Currently, they are using the Wesley Adult Bible Study.  They enjoy a relaxed and informal Bible study and have social functions about every three months.  The Stragglers also take time to work on mission projects for UMCOR in times of need. 

 Salt and Light Class (Room 404)  This class led by Kin Kinney is a group of mostly 40- to 50-year-olds.  They follow the Disciple study courses on the Old and New Testaments.

Faith and Fellowship (Room 419) This group is made up of mostly 30-40 year-olds in various stages of life. They are studying The New International Lesson Annual, which compares the NRSV and NIV translations and focuses on making scripture understood, relating it to contemporary living and challenging students to respond with positive actions.

Behold (Room 416) “Behold, I make all things new.” Rev. 21:5 This class is working through single books of the Bible, rotating between New and Old Testament books.  They enjoy casual discussion and have an open format.  They get together twice a year for social activities (Christmas and Spring). They are led by Polly and Parham Williams.

 
 

 

   

 

 
 

 

 

Older Adult

Double Circle (Wesley Hall, Room 108) Ron Vernon and Carole Dye teach this class of people in their 60s and older. Their format is lecture, and they study the Adult Bible Series.  They describe their class as  “just like family.”

 Eureka (Room 409) This class, taught by Heard Butler, ranges in age from 45-70. They get together once a quarter for social functions.  They study the Wesley Adult Bible Study and have a lecture-discussion format. 

 Wesley Explorers (Conference Room 107) This class is comprised of middle to older adults. They describe their class as “vibrant, entertaining, good-looking, opinionated, and open-minded.”  Their format is lecture and discussion. Frank Poole, Gerald Gafford, and Fred Laurenzo share teaching responsibilities.
